40 Autumn Date Night Ideas in Fayetteville

Are you tired of the traditional dinner and a movie date night? Want to spice it up a little and surprise your significant other with a creative autumn themed idea? Check out this list, which includes ideas specific to Cumberland County!

  1. Go to a pumpkin patch. Head on out to Gillis Hill Farm, try their pumpkin ice cream, and choose some pumpkins to take home. You can also visit their produce stand!
  2. Get lost in a corn maze. The Gallberry Corn Maze is close to home in Hope Mills. Bring your flashlights for a date night or explore on a Saturday afternoon.
  3. Make some chai spiced apple ciders and cozy up in front of a fire. Click here for a great recipe.
  4. Make a fort. Get connected with your inner child and build a fort in your living room, complete with all the pillows you own and lots of comfy blankets. You can have a game night or even bring in a laptop for some spooky movies. Turn off all the lights in your house and enjoy!
  5. Go tailgating. Pick up some tickets to a UNC game, or pick a local high school like Terry Sanford, and get super into it! Wear their colors from head to toe and tailgate with each other or some couples you know.
  6. Get spooky in a haunted factory. The Aberdeen Fear Factory (click here for their website) is the largest indoor haunt in North Carolina and has been scaring the daylights out of people for eight years.   8. Go for a drive to see all the fall leaves. If you feel like making a weekend out of it, head up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and take a drive during peak season. Make sure to bring your camera to capture all of the turning leaves, viewpoints of mountainous vistas, and learn how to set your timer to capture some couple shots you’ll cherish.
  9. Bundle up and star gaze. Pack some hot tea or cider in a thermos and find a spot out in the country to gaze in wonder at the autumnal sky.

  14. Bake an apple pie together. Perhaps just for the two of you, or to bring to Friendsgiving, find a delicious apple pie recipe online and work together to bake the best pie to ever pie.
  15. Watch your favorite childhood Halloween movie together.  Whether it’s Hocus Pocus, Casper, or Halloweentown, make a night of reliving some nostalgic childhood memories.
  16. Go for a bike ride through Haymount. Enjoy the crips autumn air and watch the leaves turn. You can stop at Latitude 35 Bar and Grill on Hay Street for some lunch and cocktails.
  17. #PSL for life. Visit a local coffee shop, like The Coffee Cup in downtown Fayetteville, to try their seasonal drinks. Take a walk and brainstorm your fall bucket list.
  18. Write your own fall bucket list. Maybe you’re dying to make some stew, host a bonfire night, or get lost hiking in the woods. Brainstorm together over some adventures you want to go on this autumn.
  19. Costume shopping for Halloween. Get creative and go all out! There’s a Halloween Express on Raeford and a Spirit Halloween on Skibo. Go to pinterest for inspiration and don’t forget the hot glue gun. Set a budget and have fun together trying on all the masks and testing out all the scary Halloween decorations in the store.
  20. Halloween themed scavenger hunt. Put on you creativity pants and send your significant another on a hunt around town. Send them to spooky places, places significant to the two of you, and to friend’s houses who are in on the game. Have it all end back at a place where you’ve set up a romantic meeting for just the two of you.   24. Have a bonfire and make s’mores in your backyard. This can be a great date for just the two of you, or you can invite some other couples to join in.   26. Make blessings bags together. After Halloween is over and Thanksgiving comes around, we begin to think of things we are grateful for. Get some supplies together and spend a night with your honey making bags of cookies, personalized notes, and fun memories for your closest friends and family members (and maybe even neighbors) in the area. Then go out and surprise them all! It’s a great way to catch up with people and to show them how much you appreciate having them in your lives.
  27. Play Halloween or Thanksgiving charades. This would be a fantastic group date. Have everyone write down words or phrases according to your theme, have each couple be a team, and compete! You could also do pictionary if you prefer!
  28. Have a thermos picnic in the park. Mazarick Park near downtown Fayetteville would be a great place for this. Bring a blanket (or two, in case it’s chilly outside) and have a picnic outdoors with warm beverages and perhaps a soup.
  29. Go on a bookstore date. Head to downtown Fayetteville to explore City Center Gallery and Books, or to 2nd and Charles on Skibo. Feeling more traditional?   33. Visit a nearby historic town. Pinehurst is pretty close by and is great for an afternoon of exploring. They have incredible restaurants, coffee shops, and golfing. Southern Pines is right next door and it offers just as much opportunity with delicious breweries and small town shopping. Take a drive through their charming neighborhoods and talk about what you would do if you lived there.

  35. Visit a glowing pumpkin trail. This will simply make your fall magical. In Concord, NC, October 4-28 at the Carolina Rebellion Campground at Charlotte Motor Speedway. There will be over five-thousand hand carved pumpkins to enjoy! This would be a great surprise date. Bring your camera!

  38. Invent your own mulled wine recipe. Mulled wine is a spiced alcoholic drink that is usually served hot. You can simmer it on the stove, or break out the slow-cooker/instant pot. Just make sure it doesn’t boil so you don’t cook out the alcohol. Add some citrus and cinnamon and let your combined imaginations create a concoction that could become a traditional favorite for years to come.
  39. Have a candlelit dinner at home. The traditional romantic favorite may seem cliché, but when is the last time you actually did this? A little bit of romance at home can’t hurt. Light some tapers (preferably nothing with a strong scent) and turn off all the lights. Surprise your significant other and spend some quality time with each other. Maybe search for a smooth jazz playlist on Spotify and have it playing softly in the background.
  40. Take up running and enter a 5k together. There are several 5k’s happening this time of year. Train up together and enter! This Halloween Dash (linked here) is right in Fayetteville. Don’t be fooled by the name, though. It actually takes place on October 21st!
