The first Rock’N on the River of the season! Fort Bragg Weekend Picks: April 5-7

This weekend you could witness a classic on stage with The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe at the Gilbert Theater, attend the first Rock’N On The River concert of the year, take the whole family and your best furry doggo to the Botanical Gardens, or even attend a music and food festival to raise money for the hungry and homeless in Cumberland County. These are our picks for this weekend at Fort Bragg!

All Weekend

The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe at Gilbert Theater

Based on the novel by C.S. Lewis and adapted for the stage by Joseph Robinette, this fantasy story of good versus evil in the land of Narnia recreates the magic of Aslan, the great and mysterious lion, the White Witch and her dominion over Narnia, and the adventures of Lucy and her siblings who wander through an old wardrobe and find themselves in the midst of this power struggle.

The play is showing from April 5th through the 21st. Follow the link below for information on tickets.

Friday April 5

Rock’N On The River April Concert ft. Trial By Fire (Journey)

The Guy Under Band is kicking off 2019’s first Rock’N On The River concert. This newly established event takes place on the third Friday every month through October.

Bring your chairs, blankets, and friends to this fantastic local family friendly event on Person Street. A Journey tribute band will follow—Trial by Fire at 8pm! Parking opens at 5 and food and beer sales begin at 5:30. Embrace the spring weather and get outdoors along the Cape Fear River.

When: 6pm-10:30pm

Saturday April 6

Dog Day in the Garden

Check it out—the Cape Fear Botanical Garden and the Fayetteville Animal Protection Society are hosting this fun day in the garden for the whole family—especially your fur friends! Bring your doggos to the garden for a “paw-sitively” awesome time.

There will be live music, a doggie pageant, FAPS adoptable dogs, bounce houses, dog crafts, kissing booths, nail trimming, microchipping, and more! Vendors, food and beverages will also be on site.

Cost: Free for members. $5-$10 for everyone older than 5.

Seth’s Wish 1st Annual Music and Food Festival

Seth’s wish to help the homeless and hungry in Cumberland County is partnering with Dirtbag Ales Brewery and Taproom to present their first Music and Food Festival this Saturday.

There will be live music from Nephilym, Brother Minor, Tyler Pow, Guy Unger Band, Kenny Huffman Band, and Sequoia Rising. There will also be food, face painting, games, crafts, The Climbing Place wall, a cornhole tournament, and raffles every 45 minutes with prizes from many different local establishments, to include the Fayetteville Woodpeckers.

When: 11am-5pm, with an afterparty at Drunk Horse Pub.
