The RV Lover’s Guide to Glamping in Fayetteville

The Signature Group is a team of real estate agents with Keller Williams Realty, passionate about connecting you to Fayetteville, NC’s community and making Fort Bragg more than just a PCS.

We help buyers, sellers, and investors navigate the real estate process, and our expertise doesn’t stop there! We share our heart for our community through our blog and aim to highlight all of the positive aspects of America’s Hometown.

What is “Glamping?”  Getting outside to enjoy the great outdoors in an experience-based kind of travel without the hassle of traditional camping is the essence of luxury camping. Some destinations have five-star amenities and outdoor access, but if there is one thing that “glamping” has that regular camping does not, it is everyday comforts like personal toilets and microwaves.

While most luxury tents, cabins, chalets, tiny houses and tree houses are located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Charlotte, and Winston-Salem, we do have some fantastic local locations for our trailer, camper, and RV loving friends.

We recently reached out to our local RV camping expert and enthusiast, ChrisAnn Ruhlman, who is our Executive Assistant and “team mom.” She is excited to share all of her favorite spots!

Her first recommended sites are less than an hour away from Fort Bragg and the staff at each place is friendly and helpful, especially for newbies who are still learning the ins and outs of that RV life.

#1. Lazy Acres Campground in Fayetteville

The Lazy Acres’ amenities and features include pull through sites, full hook ups, propane, cable, wifi, a bathhouse, play area, fire rings, concrete patios and more! There is firewood, ice, and ice cream on site for purchase, as well as catch and release fishing (no license required!).

#2. Fayetteville RV Resort and Cottages

This “resort style” park offers more than just sites, hook ups, and cottage rentals. They spoil visitors with complimentary waffles on the weekends, two seasonal swimming pools, putt-putt golf, volleyball, basketball, horseshoe pits, a walking trail, pet playgrounds and more! Located in Wade, this escape is definitely worth a try this summer!

#3. Jordan Dam RV Park

Conveniently located just half a mile from Jordan Lake, this quiet rural setting is a private, family owned park. Their well maintained sites boast full hook ups, shade, free wifi, a park store, laundry service, and a fish farm pond. Jordan Lake has walking trails, fishing, and boating. It sounds like an adventurer’s dream!

ChrisAnn shares that the staff at these three parks are not only friendly, but that they give great advice on setting up and other intricacies of RV life. She loves that if her family wants to get away last minute, they can find an oasis close to home. She even recommends these locations to family members when they come visit with their trailer!

If you’re looking to travel a little but stay in North Carolina, here are some of ChrisAnn’s favorite places.

#4. Carowinds

This campground is located right next to the amusement park Carowinds in Charlotte. They also provide shuttle services to and from the park! You can go luxury camping in their wilderness lodge that sleeps up to 14 people, stay in a two-bedroom cabin, or of course bring your RV. Their RV sites feature paved spots that can accommodate vehicles up to 40 feet in length. They boast full hook ups, a grill, and free wifi.

Take advantage of your stay and get discounted tickets to Carowinds. Other amenities include a general store, picnic tables, a bathroom facility with hot showers, a seasonal swimming pool, shuffleboard and corn hole, and 24 hour security.

#5. Jellystone Park

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park is a large campground with amazing amenities. It can accommodate large groups with specific spots that allow your group to park together in a square. They have planned activities daily, homemade ice cream, a cafe, water park, pool, splash pad, a fishing pond, putt putt and so much more.

The campground is located in Tabor City, NC and is opening an Asheboro location soon that will include a ticket to the NC Zoo with your stay. What a great, fun getaway for you and the whole family this summer!

#6. Emerald Isle

By far one of ChrisAnn’s favorite parks, Emerald Isle has a dog park, swimming pool, restroom and shower facilities, playground, and fishing.  The campground is even near the beach!  ChrisAnn says that, “the reason why I love this place so much is the long term residents who “live” there know this park inside and out. I love the fact my kids can just get on their bikes and go and they will be just fine because the older residents truly do watch out for others here. They also know how to have a good time, they love to hold fun events for big holidays, and yet when it is time to quiet down they know to respect others.”

She also shares that the staff is friendly and the shower house is very clean. If you have a boat or kayak, be sure to bring it and use the campground’s dock on the inlet to drop in.

We sure hope that Fayetteville and North Carolina can meet your getaway needs. If you aren’t into that RV life, or if you are looking for luxury camping locations in the mountains of North Carolina, check out Glamping Hub.
