With the arrival of December comes our team’s annual food drive!
We are the Signature Group, a team of real estate agents with Keller Williams Realty, who are passionate about connecting you to Fayetteville, North Carolina’s community and making Fort Bragg more than just a PCS.
We help buyers, sellers, and investors navigate the real estate process, and our expertise doesn’t stop there! We share our heart for our community through our blog and aim to highlight all of the positive aspects of America’s Hometown.
This is the story of how, for three years in a row, we have had the privilege of facilitating, organizing, collecting, and donating food to our local food pantries during the holiday season.
In our first year, we set out as a team in Lexington Plantation in Cameron, North Carolina to drop off brown paper bags with a flyer and a mission—to make it as easy as possible for residents to donate and feed those in need in our community. We asked the neighborhood to fill the bags as much as they could and to put them back on their doorstep the following week.
In our first year, 2018, we collected 1,000 pounds of food and our minds were blown. In 2019, we received 2,700 pounds in donations and were so excited. Our hearts and minds were full and we were completely humbled to have the opportunity to participate in such an impactful outpouring of generosity.
This year, our mission was to reach the entire neighborhood. Our event coordinator was hard at work, mapping out the neighborhood, adding a route in Pinehurst to include our new expansion team, reaching out to friends and family, and adding donation boxes around town.
Our first Pinehurst food drive was a rousing success and in November we received enough donations to feed 600 families! All donations received went to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
The morning of December fifth arrived and the day dawned bright and crisp. A small group of our team met up and in just two hours, we reached every home in Lexington Plantation with paper bags and flyers. The following week we returned with trucks, Miracle Movers, family and friends and in less than two hours, we had filled an entire moving truck (and then some) because of YOU, Lexington Plantation!
We are so excited to share that amidst all of the hardships of 2020, the people of Fayetteville and Cameron stepped up big this year. All together we have donated over 4,400 pounds of food so far to Five N’ Two Food Pantry in Sanford and to Fayetteville Urban Ministries in Fayetteville.
Our event coordinator, Puja, says that her biggest takeaway has been that people are always willing to give. No one should be afraid to host an event like this because they are nervous that people will not donate. People are always willing to help others, especially around the holidays.
All we can say is thank you! Thank you for your generosity. Thank you to Miracle Movers, Keller Williams, our lovely event coordinator Puja, and to every single person who stepped up to help. We couldn’t have done it without you.
